Restaurateur KwangHo Lee, the mind behind Momoya, is opening a multi-concept Japanese dining destination known as One Bryant Park in mid-October inside The Durst Organization’s Bank of America tower at 135 W. 42nd St. Occupying a 10,000-square-foot bi-level space formerly held by Charlie Palmer Steak, the venue houses three distinct fine-dining concepts: an eponymous 45-seat restaurant and 15-seat bar led by Chef Tadaaki Ishizaki, the 14-seat sushi counter Kumiko Room headed by Michelin-starred Chef Yoshihiko Kousaka, and the 10-seat multi-course kaiseki spot Kappo Sono from Chef Chikara Sono, which will feature a menu rotating with Japan’s 24-season calendar. Signed to a 15-year lease, this ambitious culinary addition aims to fill a void for high-end Japanese cuisine near Midtown's bustling office hubs and Times Square.
