New York City’s newest and impending openings have The New York Times staff on the edge of their seats.

New York City’s fall dining landscape is brimming with notable new openings, major returns, and evolving culinary trends across the boroughs. Among the highlighted destinations are Galo, bringing rare Portuguese whole stuffed rooster and seafood rice dishes to the West Village; One Bryant Park, hosting a massive multi-concept Japanese complex in Midtown; Cafe Wands, offering interactive five-cup coffee tastings and house-baked breakfast sandwiches in Carroll Gardens; and Ghungroo, expanding modern Indian cuisine and Cornish hen butter chicken to Astoria. Alongside these spots, the roundup showcases projects ranging from Creola’s Afro-diasporic tasting menu and George McNally's debut bistro Faux to Daniel Humm's hearth-focused venue and the revival of Brooklyn red-sauce institution Sam’s, reflecting a city-wide wave of British dining influences, tavern-style bar pizzerias, and Mexican guisados.
