The chef’s new restaurant debuts in the fully refurbished Waldorf Astoria.
Renowned chef Michael Anthony—best known for his nearly 20‑year run at Gramercy Tavern—is now helming Lex Yard, the flagship restaurant inside the newly restored Waldorf Astoria in Midtown Manhattan. Despite facing a uniquely narrow kitchen setup, Anthony and his 14‑chef team are delivering an ingredient‑driven American brasserie experience across breakfast, lunch, dinner, wood‑fired pizzas, bar service, and room service. The spacious 220‑seat, two‑story restaurant, designed in pastel Deco style by AvroKo, blends a four‑course “market” menu with à la carte fare, showcasing refined yet approachable dishes like mushroom tagliatelle, rib eye, slow‑poached halibut—and indulgences like caviar‑topped lobster rolls and beef‑tallow fries. A highlight is Anthony’s seasonally evolving three‑layer Waldorf salad, reinvented to surprise diners while honoring the hotel’s legacy. Leveraging his strong relationship with mentor Danny Meyer, Anthony hopes Lex Yard will transcend its hotel roots and become a neighborhood dining destination.
