Harlem restaurateur Melba Wilson is an executive producer on the show inspired by her restaurant, Melba’s.
Apple TV is developing American Comfort, a new comedy series inspired by the life of Harlem restaurateur Melba Wilson and her famous soul food institution, Melba’s. Created, written, and executive produced by Kenya Barris (Black-ish), the show will star Oscar nominee Danielle Brooks as Wilson, with Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Entertainment also on board to executive produce. Wilson, who is intimately involved in the storylines as an executive producer, envisions the series as an economic empowerment story and a "love letter to Harlem." A definitive premiere date and episode count for the series have not yet been announced.
