Restaurateur Laila Bazahm is opening Shola, an Indian barbecue fusion restaurant, at 105 Tillery St. in East Austin in November 2026. Known for her existing local concepts El Raval and Siti, Bazahm is financing the project independently to maintain creative control as she pairs regional Indian flavors with Texas barbecue techniques. The menu—developed alongside chef ambassador Hari Nayak and prepared using an Oyler smoker—will feature items like smoked brisket biryani, brisket nihari, smoked lamb samosas, and smoked vegetables, accompanied by an in-house paratha and naan bread program.
