Houston’s summer 2025 dining scene is heating up with four standout new restaurants set to open in July and August, including Boo’s Burgers, Yiayia’s Greek Kitchen, Augustine’s Creole kitchen, and The Local Spot casual eatery. One of the stars of the season is Oru, the highly anticipated third venture from Comma Hospitality (behind Neo and Kira), debuting in West University in July. In an intimate 24-seat space framed by a gabled roof and expansive windows, Oru offers a refined, chef-driven Japanese experience featuring sushi and seasonal tasting plates such as Madai nigiri with freeze‑dried crème fraîche, kimchi-tamari swordfish crudo, charcoal-cooked Alaskan black cod with seaweed butter, and whimsical banana caviar ice cream. Complemented by thoughtfully crafted sake, wine, and cocktails, Oru promises an elevated culinary journey that blends precision, creativity, and the inviting hospitality the city has come to expect from its predecessors.
