Hulu is developing Gaijin, a new drama series executive produced by and set to star Joseph Gordon-Levitt, based on the real-life journey of famous chef Ivan Orkin. Created by Shōgun co-executive producer Shannon Goss and produced by Lionsgate Television, the show follows an American culinary school dropout who relocates to Tokyo with his young son after the death of his wife. Plunging into life with his estranged in-laws, he embarks on the challenging quest to rebuild his life by opening a local ramen shop amidst cultural hurdles and language barriers.
